Carter currently leads the Operations, Sales, Revenue, F&B, and Asset Management teams, overseeing Schulte’s branded portfolio of Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and IHG hotels. He previously led Schulte’s Acquisitions team, managing the entire process from deal sourcing to closing, including due diligence, financial modeling, and the creation of investment committee presentations. He closed on more than 60 deals, totaling over $1.0 billion of spend. Carter also previously led Schulte’s Design & Construction team, planning, budgeting, and executing over 30 hotel renovations.
Prior to joining the team, Carter spent seven years in the aviation industry, working on three continents with airlines and airline-service providers in areas such as strategy, finance, technical operations, project management, revenue strategy and human resources. He worked as a management consultant and was exposed to a variety of business models, both good and bad, gaining experience that he continues to leverage today. Carter's strong work ethic and true-grit approach ensure that goals are accomplished regardless of the challenges that may arise.
Carter's previous employers include Oliver Wyman, United Airlines, and Virgin America. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Business from the University of Virginia, with a second major in Spanish. He sits on the Embassy Suites Owner’s Advisory Council. Carter lives in Louisville with his wife and two children, and maintains an active lifestyle running marathons and cycling on his Peloton.
