As an accomplished certified professional in human resources and Summa Cum Laude graduate from Sullivan University with a Master's Degree in Human Resources leadership and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from McKendree College, Ray brings over 20 years of progressive HR leadership experience in mid-sized, privately-held and large-scale, publicly-traded global companies. Ray is responsible for all human resources-related functions, and for providing strategic human resources leadership and vision at Schulte. Ray plays an active role within the senior leadership team, providing advice on execution of business strategy and identifying opportunities to help improve Schulte Hospitality Group's organizational effectiveness and growth objectives through its people. Ray began his career in the healthcare industry where he built a human resources function from ground zero. He spent over 12 years at Papa John's International leading various human resources functions, including employee relations, policy development, employment, performance management, talent acquisition and organizational development. He created several company-wide recognition programs and led a multi-year initiative to automate HR transactions, resulting in an annual company savings of $1.3 million, in addition to improving HR compliance.

As Senior Vice President of HR for an international gift card company, Stored Value Solutions, Ray led culture improvement, talent inventory and leadership development initiatives. As head of HR for a regional public accounting firm, Ray led a talent inventory initiative resulting in customized retention action plans that achieved over 90% retention of the firm's top talent. Prior to joining Schulte Hospitality Group, Ray served as chief people officer for SERVUS!, a large regional restaurant franchise with five national brands in over 200 locations. There, he implemented over 15 management incentive programs designed a pay-for-performance compensation and performance management program; and created total-rewards statements to drive employee retention. With a diverse HR background spanning multiple industries, including over 15 years in hospitality, Ray has a proven track record of linking people initiatives with business objectives to drive organizational success. His passion for fostering positive cultures positions Schulte Hospitality Group to attract, engage and retain top talent as a competitive advantage. A Louisville native, Ray and his wife of 23 years have 2 children. Ray serves on the board of directors for Portland Christian School. He was the recipient of a President's Award in 2012, and was recognized for outstanding achievement and academic excellence.
