Carter is the Vice President of Acquisitions with Schulte Hospitality Group and oversees the acquisition process from deal sourcing, financial underwriting, market research, and debt financing. He has closed on more than 60 of Schulte’s hotels to date, totaling over $1.0 billion of spend. Prior to joining the team, Carter spent seven years in the aviation industry, working on three continents both for and with airlines and airline-service providers in areas such as strategy, finance, technical operations, project management, revenue strategy and human resources. His experience as a management consultant and his background in finance bring to Schulte Hospitality Group an outside perspective when valuing hotels, conducting financial analyses and acquiring assets, as well as a strong work ethic and sense of humor. Carter's true-grit approach to his work ensures that goals are accomplished regardless of the challenges that may arise.
Carter's previous employers include Oliver Wyman, United Airlines and, most recently, Virgin America. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Business from the University of Virginia, with a second major in Spanish. His passion for travel and foreign languages have taken him to 31 countries, and his studies include Spanish, French, Arabic, German and Japanese. Carter's hobbies include running, cycling, tennis, traveling, bourbon tasting and camping. His favorite words of wisdom are, "Better to have and not need than to need and not have".
